Neuromodulation Guided by Brain Biomarkers

Cadence is pioneering a neuromodulation platform that makes the brain’s response to stimulation visible, providing real-time physiological feedback to inform how stimulation is delivered.

HOW IT WORKS

A Clear View of Neuromodulation

See the Brain Respond

Traditional stimulation creates electrical artifact that can obscure the brain’s response on EEG. As a result, clinicians may rely on programming, observation, and patient-reported outcomes to assess response over time. Cadence’s Artifact Reduction Technology (ART) reduces this interference, making patient-specific EEG biomarkers measurable during stimulation and the brain’s response visible in real time.

A More Complete Picture

Cadence continuously records brain activity for up to 32 hours, providing more information than brief recordings alone. With multiple electrode targets and measurable EEG responses, clinicians have more information to guide programming and adapt stimulation based on each patient’s brain activity.

Personalized Neuromodulation

Cadence’s Biomarker Targeted Stimulation (BTS) uses patient-specific EEG biomarkers to guide stimulation. By measuring how an individual brain responds, clinicians can make more informed programming decisions and personalize stimulation to the patient.

Beginning with Epilepsy

Cadence is initially developing its platform for people with focal drug-resistant epilepsy, with the goal of helping more people achieve seizure freedom. Our long-term vision is to build on this work to address additional neurological conditions.

INNOVATION IN PROGRESS

1

The Visibility Gap

Traditional neuromodulation often relies on iterative programming and waiting for clinical outcomes to understand how a patient is responding.

2

The
Opportunity

Cadence makes the brain’s response to stimulation visible in real time, enabling more informed, personalized programming.

3

The
Future

This measurable response creates a path toward closed-loop neuromodulation that can become increasingly adaptive and personalized over time.

Building on promising early results

Originating from research at Mayo Clinic, promising early results¹ helped establish the foundation for Cadence’s approach to personalized neuromodulation. Today, we’re building on that research as we develop our technology and explore its potential across neurological conditions.
